Scottish Forestry Grant Scheme

A new Forestry Grant Scheme called the Scottish Forestry Grant Scheme has recently (16th June 2003) been introduced to replace the old Woodland Grant Scheme, which was closed on 14th February 2003. The new scheme is likely to be of more benefit to landowners who are interested in planting small areas than the old scheme was. It does not however, exclude larger scale planting operations.

Grants are paid on the basis of a percentage of fixed standard costs. The percentage of standard costs awarded depends on the objectives of your planting.

To be eligible for SFGS, you planting proposals must meet one or more of the following objectives:

1. Establishing well-designed productive woodland. 60% grant rate
2. Expanding areas of native woodland, preferably through natural regeneration and the development of Forest Habitat Networks. 90% grant rate
3. Improving riparian habitat. 90% grant rate
4. Improving post-industrial areas. 90% grant rate
5. Improving diversity of the farmed and crofting landscape. 60% grant rate

Our service includes the initial application stage as well as forestry design. We have contacts in the forestry sector for fencing and planting.
